How to Prepare for your Allergy Test?

  • Please do not take Antihistamines or Aspirin for 5-7 days preceding the test.
  • Please check your insurance benefits to see the allergy test is covered, you are responsible for verifying coverage. Allergy Testing Referral & Verification Code.
  • Due to the limited space in our allergy testing bays, we can only bring back the patient being tested. Someone may accompany patient if medical or translation assistance is required, small children & parents are allowed.
  • Please wear short sleeves and/or a clinical gown will be provided

What Drugs Interfere with Allergy Testing?

MAO Inhibitors Must be off for 5-7 days prior to testing and then possibly off Permanently

A patient cannot be given adrenaline while on MAO Inhibitors it will provoke hypertensive crisis.

Check with your Primary Physician before stopping any medications.

  • Beta Blockers – must be off 5-7 days prior to testing. Optic Blockers for Glaucoma
