Ear Conditions & Services

Ear disease primarily affects children, although it is not uncommon in adults. The range of problems with ear disease includes: ear wax impaction, ear infections, hearing loss, vertigo/dizziness, Eustachian tube dysfunction, and tinnitus.

At Metropolitan ENT our providers are trained in treating both pediatric and adult ear disease. We have the capability to perform specialized diagnostic testing including: hearing tests, balance tests, as well as advanced tests such as electrocochleography, which can aid in the diagnosis of Meniere’s disease.

Nose Conditions & Sinus Services

The most common nasal symptoms include nasal obstruction/congestion, rhinorrhea (runny nose), and decreased sense of smell.

Nasal obstruction can be due to deviation of the nasal septum, which is most effectively treated with a surgical procedure called septoplasty. Obstruction may also be caused by hypertrophy of the nasal turbinates which are normal structures within the nose that serve to warm and humidify air before it reaches the lungs. Turbinate hypertrophy may result from uncontrolled allergies as well as long-term use of nasal decongestants. Surgical reduction of the turbinates is an effective treatment for this condition when medical treatment fails.

Rhinorrhea is often associated with allergies. The use of topical nasal steroids as well as oral antihistamines can help alleviate this problem.

Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT)

The Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT) questionnaire is intended to determine how your chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) has affected your health status. A valid measure of rhinosinusitis health status and quality of life is required for the complete assessment of treatment effectiveness. This survey will measure the physical impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, and societal limitations caused by your sinus disease.

Please download, print and bring the Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT) to your appointment.

Throat Conditions & Services

The symptoms associated with throat disease can range from severe throat pain and difficulty swallowing to mild but persistent irritation. Beyond the oral exam, the structure in the pharynx and the larynx with minimal discomfort. This is a simple procedure performed by passing a small scope through the nose after the use of topical anesthetic. In addition, we now have the capability of examining the entire esophagus using a longer fiber optic scope in the office in select patients. This can help avoid the need for examining the esophagus under general anesthesia.
